In his debut MWTM series, Boi-1da reveals how he and Jahaan Sweet produced ‘MAFIA’ by Travis Scott! Throughout these three parts, the Grammy Award winner shares how they created the music using drum samples and virtual instruments.
Using FL Studio software, he shows the various parts of the record, discusses how they were made, and demonstrates his beat-making approach. Boi-1da talks about his favorite tools to use and methodology for sample discovery and selection.
He explains why he deliberately keeps his sample library scattered in order to encourage the implementation of new sounds and discourage reliance on a formula. Furthermore, Boi-1da speaks of his influences and participation in other projects with artists Drake and Rihanna!

Matthew Samuels (aka Boi-1da) is a Grammy award-winning hip-hop songwriter and producer from Kingston, Jamaica. He moved to Canada when he was three and grew up in Toronto, Ontario.
