Truefire Andy Wood’s Practice Sessions: Melodic Morphing TUTORIAL
Learn and Practice Melodic Soloing with Interactive Practice Sessions
At some point or another, all improvising guitar players find themselves in the proverbial rut; tired of hearing themselves playing the same go-to licks and scale runs in the same old go-to positions on the neck. Sound familiar?
Andy Wood’s Melodic Morphing edition of Practice Sessions is designed to bust you out of that rut and develop into a more tasty, original and multidimensional soloist.
”Guitar players need a multi-pronged melodic strategy consisting of ear twisting harmonic tweaks, attitude-loaded lines, and lots of slippery, melodic pyrotechnics.
In this hands-on course, we’ll focus on building your soloing techniques and improvisational skills by working on 8 melodic morphing techniques that I personally use all of the time.”
Andy will kick off each study with a breakdown of the melodic idea or technique and then he’ll perform an example over a backing track to give you a feel for how it sits in a groove.
”We’ll start out with a demonstration and practice session to get flat 9 triads under your fingers. Slippery, Slidey lines are a huge part of my sound, so we’ll dig into some of those in the second session. The third session focuses on a flat five triad flavor.
We’ll dig into some country twang with hybrid picking in the fourth set and then we’ll evoke a little Eric Johnson-style pentatonic pyrotechnics in the next. We’re gonna bend it some like Hendrix in the sixth.
We’ll add in soulful, melodic vibes take the focus in session seven and finally , we’ll work on some descending sassy licks to add some attitude to your playing!”
You’ll cap off each soloing study together with a hands-on practice session. Andy will roll the track and you’ll trade back and forth as he guides you through the core examples followed by several variations and embellishments.
Working regularly with these “practice sessions” is the key to having command of all 8 melodic morphing soloing and improvisational approaches.
You’ll get standard notation and tabs for all of the performance studies. Plus, you’ll be able to use TrueFire’s learning tools to sync the tab and notation to the video lesson. You can also loop or slow down the videos so that you can work with the lessons at your own pace. All of the backing tracks are included to work with on your own as well.
